Recycling WoW Content

I've read a lot of anger over the latest announcement by Blizzard regarding Onoxia... I'll be honest, I think it's great. Many people did not get a chance to see that big ass dragon in her terrifying glory. Those people who joined after BC or were never able to do a raid pre-BC never really understood what it meant to take her down. They never got to experience the thrill of seeing that head on a post in the middle of Orgrimmar. They just don't realize how difficult it was to take her down.

I for one, am glad some of this old world content is making a comeback. It's by far some of the best content Blizzard has ever come up with. I love the old armors and weapons. It's time to bring back some old school style with some new school stats. Bring it on Blizz!

Cataclysm OMG OMG

Yeah, so if you haven't been living under a rock, you know that this weekend Blizzard announced the newest WoW expansion. Obviously, it's called Cataclysm.. As some of you know, I play WoW quite a bit. It's been my home since I left DAOC a few years back.

I have some mixed feelings about the new expansion. First of all, it seems that they will be messing around with the old world quite a bit. While I like the idea, I'm not sure I'll like the implementation. Only time will tell. They are implementing flying in the old world (THANK GOD) and there will be 2 new races. The Worgen (finally I have a reason to play alliance!) and the Goblins. I've been waiting for the goblins to become a playable race probably since I first started playing WoW. I just love them.

Champions Online - First/Last Impressions

I installed and played champions online last night for about 30 minutes. Here are my first impressions.

First, the character creation screen is a double-edged sword. It's awesome that you have so many options, but there are SO many of them that it's downright confusing. I think the UI for the character creation could have used a little more organization. First time MMO players might have a bit of a learning curve right off the bat.

After about 30 minutes of messing around, I created my orange and black Demonic-Skeleton-Ninja.. It came out pretty well. The first thing I noticed was the initial insane lag. This was due to the 16xAA and shadows being set to "High". I personally despise shadows, and well with all the people running around, 16xAA just screwed the pooch. Once they were disabled, the game performed admirably.

The initial quests were easy, straight forward quest logic. Go here, do this, go there kill 10 rats.. er pod thingies.. One thing that did confuse me is that I didn't immediately recognize the difference between quest givers and people who just had information to give you.

The voice over work was good, and the music really made it feel like you were a superhero. I loved the cell shading. It added to the comic book feel of the game, along with the chat bubbles. I think people who liked City of Heros, will love this game. I, however didn't enjoy it very much. To be honest, I'll probably uninstall it. It's just not my cup of tea.

I reached level 5 before I called it quits.. Daekron the demonic-skeleton-ninja is no more.

Why?

If you can't grab my attention in the first 15 minutes or by level 20, chances are I'll never play the game again.

I'm going to use this blog to discuss betas and existing games in kind. I'm going to review any game I can get my hands on, as well as different classes in each game. But I'm only going to level them to 20. If the game is too tedious, or too boring. I can't even promise that. But I will write a review nonetheless!
